Community Education Programs
Instructors for Community Education
Do you have a skill, talent, hobby or interest you
would like to share with the community? Then Community
Education wants you!
We are always searching
for new instructors to join our wonderful
team of volunteers who share their talents with their
neighbors - a job skill, a craft, a foreign language,
a performing art, a physical activity, or a home
improvement technique. Diversity is the key to meeting
the community's needs, so we are always open to fresh
ideas for new and interesting courses.
We are seeking instructors for topic ideas such as:
Basic Computer Skills, Culinary Arts, Personal Enrichment,
Fitness, Foreign Language and Dance.

Community Education Funding:
Did you know that Community Education is a Boise
School District sponsored program with a long-term
goal
set by the district of becoming self-sustaining from
a financial standpoint? We’re proud to say
that with the support of volunteers like you, our
program is gaining ground on meeting this goal with
each continuing session. During the 2008-2009 school
year,, our program was over 75% self-sustaining.
We hope to top the 85% mark in the 2009-2010 school
year. The budget for Community Education covers staff,
publishing
costs
for our three catalogs, postage for our mailings,
and the administrative overhead for running the program.
Course Fees:
In order to become a self-sustaining organization,
we charge our students fees for our classes and utilize
volunteer instructors. The fees for students are $7.50
per instructional hour with a $45.00 per course maximum.
Instructors can offer to teach a one-night or multi-night
class; we do ask that students get a minimum of 2 hours
of instruction. To cover instructor expenses for ingredients
or materials we can add a "materials' fee to cover
any out-of-pocket expenses. We then add that cost to
the price of the class.
