As Adams' school counselor one of the key ways that I can
reach students is in small a group setting. Being a part
of a small group enables students to express themselves more
openly, without having to worry about how his or her large
peer group will view them.
Also, participating in small groups can provide a safe place
for students to learn skills. Once these skills have been introduced,
a group experience provides students an opportunity to apply
those skills in a safe environment.
Students must have parent permission to participate in a small
group here at Adams. I send every parent a letter describing
what the group process is all about, with a permission slip
enclosed. Students must return the permission form before
they can continue participating in a small group with me.
Below you will find a list of several of the small groups
that I may run here at Adams. Talk to your child(ren)
to find out what they know about Mr. Gibbons' groups.
