Assignments

  • As a general rule, assignments are due the following day the assignment is given. Any assignment not completed in class becomes homework that is due the following day. Though some standard weekly assignments have a set Thursday or Friday due date, I encourage all students to complete the assignment in class or as homework that evening to avoid the end of the week "crunch." Project due dates are given well in advance. Students will be given five minutes at the end of each day to record all assignments in their learning log. Students are expected to record all assignments and due dates, daily. Please check and initial your child's learning log nightly to ensure they are completing all assignments.
Grade Check Ups
  • I enter all grades for the week on Friday. Graded papers will be sent home in the "Friday folder".
  • The assignments that are kept in spirals (spelling practice, math book assignments, etc.) are not to be torn out, but  may be taken home at anytime in order to share the work and resulting grades with parents. Checking your student's graded assignments will allow you to closely monitor your child's progress.
  •  Progress reports will be issued at midterms (week 5) of every quarter. These reports must be signed and returned by the date indicated.
  • Report cards will be issued during the week following the end of every quarter, except for Parent teacher conferences and at the end of the year.
Weekly Reading Homework
  • Students will be assigned a reading passage every Monday which is due every Friday morning.  Please assist and help your child complete this assignment. This assignment is to be read aloud by the student to the parent. The questions may then be completed together.  Please ensure that both student and parent sign the designated area of the worksheet so I may give credit for the completed assignment.

Weekly Spelling Assignments

  • Students will be assigned a weekly spelling practice that relates to the students' weekly Treasures Reading theme. The spelling words will be introduced on Monday. We will complete daily activities with the weekly words and students will be given multiple choice spelling quiz during the week. Student's will not be given a "traditional" dictation spelling test at the end of the week as they may be accustomed to. Please contact me with questions or concerns about this policy.
