Hello and welcome to the Home of the Rams and the Koelsch
Counseling Department!
Focus areas:
- Classroom guidance: Throughout the year I will be
providing counselor curriculum lessons in each classroom. These
lessons help me to see and work with every Koelsch student
while teaching important life and safety skills.
- Small groups: Small groups at Koelsch address skill
areas such as friendship, coping skills, problem solving,
anger management and changing family issues. Teachers
and parents are welcome to make referrals.
- Individual work with students: Students, teachers
and parents alike can request an opportunity to visit and
review challenges or concerns. Student can receive
either individual or small group support.
- Mentoring: We offer a mentoring program in conjunction
with Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center. This
program provides an opportunity for students to develop a
meaningful relationship with a non-parental adult, which
can be an important asset for many children.
- Parent/staff consultation: The challenges of parenting,
managing and helping children are an ever-moving target that
can often take an additional view or perspective. Contact
me anytime you are looking for that different view or idea.
- Other - Peer Mediation: We have an active Peer Mediation
program at Koelsch, where 4th - 6th grade students are specially
trained to help other students work out problems or differences
peacefully. Peer mediation helps students and helps
to maintain a peacefull environment at our school.
