An Educational Alternative for
Grades 1 – 6
Available Free of Charge for Boise Public Schools Students

Montessori Program
On March 12, 2007 the Boise School District Board
approved a pilot public Montessori program to be located at Liberty
Elementary School in Southeast Boise. The District opened one Lower
Elementary classroom (6-9 years/Grades 1-3) in the fall 2007 for the
2007/08 school year. The program grew in the next two years and now
consists of two Lower Elementary classrooms and two Upper Elementary
classrooms (10-12 years/4th-6th grade). The Montessori program coexists
with the traditional school program and operates on the same calendar.
Each classroom has approximately 25 students, one lead teacher and one
teaching assistant.
Admission to the program
The Montessori program is available by first priority
to students in the Liberty school boundaries. The program population
requires that a majority of the students have prior Montessori
experience. Seats remaining after population with Liberty students will
be filled by a lottery system following the Boise School District open
enrollment policy. The class will be multi-age, with the goal of equal
representation in each age group.
Enrollment
Applicants for the Montessori Program must complete the
Boise School District's Enrollment form and the Liberty Montessori
Enrollment form. Please mail or bring these forms to Liberty
Elementary, 1740 E. Bergeson St., Boise, ID 83706. Applicants who live
outside of the Liberty School boundaries must also complete the
District's Open Enrollment application. Boundary information can be
obtained from our Transportation
and Boundaries Office.
