Board Positions & Descriptions

President--The President shall preside at all meetings of the P.A.W.S. organization and its Board of Directors. He/She shall act as the spokesperson for the P.A.W.S organization at public functions. The President shall appoint special committees or committee chairpersons subject to the approval of the Board of Directors. He/She shall have the authority to approve financial transactions.

Vice President--The Vice President shall perform the duties of the President in the absence of the President at meetings and public functions. He/She shall act as an aide to the President and serve as the chair of the Nominating Committee. The Vice President shall be considered the President-Elect for the following academic year. He/She shall have the authority to approve financial transactions.

Treasurer--The Treasurer shall keep a true and accurate accounting of all finds, assist in the creation of an annual budget for the organization, and prepare monthly statements. He/She shall have the authority to approve financial transactions.

Secretary--The Secretary shall record, distribute, and maintain permanent records of the minutes from all meetings of the P.A.W.S. organization and its Board of Directors. The Secretary shall conduct all correspondence of the P.A.W.S. organization as directed.

Volunteer Coordinator--The Volunteer Coordinator shall be selected by the principal of Riverglen Junior High School from a pool of candidates recommended by the P.A.W.S. Board of Directors. The Volunteer Coordinator will assess the volunteer needs of the teachers and staff. He/She, along with the 7th, 8th, and 9th Grade Representatives (hereafter referred to as the Volunteer Coordinating Team), shall be responsible for calling/placing volunteers, attending monthly Boise School District Volunteer Coordinator Meetings, and reporting volunteer hours to the Boise School District. He/She shall select an Assistant Coordinator with approval from the P.A.W.S. Board of Directors and the Riverglen Junior High School principal who shall be considered a Volunteer-Coordinator-In-Training & an aide on the Volunteer Coordinating Team.

Membership Chair--The Membership Chair shall work closely with the Volunteer Coordinator to attract members and volunteers into the P.A.W.S. organization. He/She shall keep accurate records of members and generate membership lists as the P.A.W.S. Board of Directors requires. He/She shall be responsible for collecting membership dues.

Student Council Representative--The Student Council Representative shall attend Riverglen Junior High School's student council meetings once a month and act as a communication link between Riverglen students and the P.A.W.S. Board of Directors.

9th Grade Representative--The 9th Grade Representative shall represent 9th grade parents/guardians at the P.A.W.S. Board of Directors' meetings. He/She shall assist the Volunteer Coordinator in calling/placing volunteers, attending Boise School District Volunteer Coordinator meetings, and acting as an aide on the P.A.W.S. Volunteer Coordinating Team.

8th Grade Representative--The 8th Grade Representative shall represent 8th grade parents/guardians at P.A.W.S. Board of Directors' meetings. He/She shall assist the Volunteer Coordinator in calling/placing volunteers, attending Boise School District Volunteer Coordinator meetings, and acting as an aide on the Volunteer Coordinating Team.

7th Grade Representative--The 7th Grade Representative shall represent 7th grade parents/guardians at P.A.W.S. Board of Director's meetings. He/She shall assist the Volunteer Coordinator in calling/placing volunteers, attending Boise School District Volunteer Coordinator meetings, and acting as an aide on the Volunteer Coordinating Team.

Special Events Chairs--The Special Events Chairs shall oversee the P.A.W.S.'s involvement with particular events or activities. Each Chair shall plan, organize, and implement his/her event or activities. Each Chair shall work closely with the Volunteer Coordinator and the Communications Chair. There shall be Special Events Chairs for the following: Fall Festival, Freshman Farewell, Riverglen Art Show, Teacher/Staff Appreciation, and Volunteer Appreciation.

Communications Chair--The Communications Chair shall oversee the creation and production of the P.A.W.S. organization's web site, annual directory, newsletters, and publicity pieces. He/She will work closely with the Special Events Chairs and the Display Case Coordinator to advertise upcoming events and activities.
Fundraising Coordinator--The Fundraising Coordinator shall oversee "Spirit Ware" sales of Riverglen Junior High and Riverglen Grizzly P.A.W.S. apparel. He/She shall oversee any other fundraising projects approved by the P.A.W.S. Board of Directors.
Display Case Coordinator--The Display Case Coordinator shall keep the Riverglen Junior High trophy and display case(s) up-to-date and attractive with current P.A.W.S. meeting minutes, P.A.W.S. information or publicity pieces, P.A.W.S. newsletters, and other such items. He/She will work closely with the Communications Chair and the Special Events Chairs.

PCAC Representatives--PCAC Representatives shall be selected by the Riverglen Junior High principal utilizing recommendations from the P.A.W.S. Board of Directors. They shall act as a communication link between the Boise School District and the P.A.W.S. Board of Directors.

NOTE: The P.A.W.S. Board of Directors shall include Teacher Representatives from the Riverglen Junior High School faculty as well as the principal and/or assistant principal.
