to contact one of the counselors if you have a question or
concern about your child.
Schedule:

- Classroom guidance lessons are taught in each classroom
to help students understand themselves better, communicate
clearly, and get along with others.

Annie Pierce
Hello! I would like to take this
opportunity to introduce myself to all of the families of Trail
Wind. I am your new full-time counselor, and I am thrilled to be
working at a school with such a great reputation academics,
parent involvement, and staff morale. I am looking forward to
developing relationships with the students, staff, and families
of Trail Wind Elementary.
I grew up in Moscow, Idaho, and
after two years at the University of Idaho I transferred to Boise
State and earned my bachelor’s degree in psychology in 2006. I
went on to graduate school at Northwest Nazarene University, and
graduated with my Master’s degree in school counseling in 2009.
While in graduate school I worked in the Boise School District as
a Behavior Interventionist at Whitney Elementary, and as a special
education assistant in the autism program at Timberline High
School. Both of these positions gave me invaluable insight into
the field of school counseling, and were a great place to use the
practical skills I was learning in my counseling classes.
I look forward to serving the
students of Trail Wind through teaching the district’s guidance
curriculum lessons, group counseling, and individual counseling.
I will be leading small counseling groups focusing on friendship
issues, children of divorce, new students, among others. These
groups typically meet once a week for about 30 minutes, and are
6-8 weeks long. If you believe your student would benefit from a
counseling group, please let me know. I require parent permission
for participation in all counseling groups. The Boise School
Districts allows counselors to see students for individual
counseling three times with out parent permission. If, after
three sessions your student or I believe they would benefit from
continuing counseling I will send home a permission slip. The
role of the school counselor is to provide brief, solution-focused
counseling, and not long-term therapy. I am happy to provide
community counseling referrals for students needing more.
On a personal level, I have
enjoyed living in the Boise community for the past 9 years. In my
spare time I enjoy traveling to McCall with my husband and two
young daughters, and reading every chance I get!
Please don’t hesitate to call,
email, or stop by to introduce to yourself. I look forward to
connecting with as many parents as possible, as we have the common
goal of wanting your student to have the best educational
experience possible!
Sincerely,
Annie Pierce, M.S.
