Welcome to Whitney Elementary!Whitney is a great elementary school serving 510 students who live on the Boise Bench. Our teachers are very dedicated to giving the children a safe and fun place to learn. They do a great job getting the children involved in the learning process! We are a "Hands Off" and "Kind Words" school where
students are expected to treat each other with kindness and respect. This year we are
working on the "3 R's" - They are: Being Responsible, Respectful, and
Ready. We want our kids to be able to show these qualities
wherever they are! What would that look like even at home?
That might be a great thing to talk about! This year our school has 124 English Language Learners who represent 17 different countries with 18 different languages. It is inspiring to watch all of these cultures blend so well, and we are learning a lot from one another. We
have a "Dual Language" program for Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd
grades. This program started in the fall of 2008. The Dual Language
program provides literacy and content instruction in two languages
(English and Spanish) and integrates native English speakers with
native Spanish speakers. This is an excellent opportunity for
children to have instruction in two languages. We will be adding 4th grade for the 2012-2013 school year. We continue to be
thankful for our new building, it is such a pleasant place to
learn! We are also very proud of our students! They are
working hard, learning a lot, and having a good time along the way!
