Accelerated Reader (AR) is a supplemental reading program
that many schools in the Boise School District use to supplement
the district reading program.
The STAR reading test that the students take, can make a
recommendation concerning a reading level for each student.Based
on that recommendation (and what the teacher knows about the
student's abilities) the teachers encourage their students
to choose books that are appropriate for them. This helps the
students to find books from the library, that will help them
to be successful and to improve their reading.
Books that are a part of the AR program have all been labeled. There
are different stickers for each level which helps guide the
students to easily find books in their level. (Not all books
are a part of the AR program.)
The AR program works in the following way:
Students read an AR book, and then they can take a quiz on
that book. This is a great way to measure if they comprehend
what they are reading. The goal is that they do well on the
quiz, and their reading ability continues to increase which
helps them to be more successful in their studies in the classroom.

Library they also have a notebook, located in the children’s
room that has the complete list of Whitney’s AR books.
